Countries, cities, and origin
Say where you are from naturally
Say where you are from, ask the same question politely, and notice the form after iš.
You unlock the origin pattern: “Aš esu iš…”, “Iš kur jūs?”, and common country forms such as Lietuvos, Ukrainos, Rusijos, Anglijos, and Vokietijos.

Teacher explanation
For origin, start with one strong chunk: “Aš esu iš…”. After iš, the country name changes form.
Do not try to memorize a full case table yet. Learn the most useful origin phrases as ready-made patterns first.

Learner notes
- • Keep iš short but clear.
- • Do not flatten Lietuvos into one long blur.
- • English uses “from” plus the base country name, but Lithuanian changes the place form after iš.
- • Do not guess the ending. Learn the full chunk: iš Lietuvos, iš Ukrainos, iš Vilniaus.
I can say where I am from and ask another person the same question politely.
