Common daily verbs

Describe the core actions of a normal day

Use a small set of core daily routine verbs to describe repeated actions simply and clearly.

Unlock

You unlock the first routine toolkit: “Ryte keliuosi.”, “Valgau pusryčius.”, “Einu į darbą.”, “Dirbu.”, “Grįžtu namo.”, and “Naktį miegu.”

An adult learner moving through a realistic Lithuanian weekday from morning to evening.
Step 1

Teacher explanation

For your first routine lesson, learn the verb together with one strong daily chunk: keliuosi ryte, valgau pusryčius, einu į darbą, grįžtu namo. This is more useful than memorizing isolated verb tables.

Lithuanian routine sentences can stay short. Very often you do not need to say aš every time. The verb already carries the meaning clearly enough for beginner routine language.

Use it first

Key language

Pattern spotlight

Time chunk plus verb

A very usable beginner routine pattern is time first, then the action: ryte keliuosi, vakare grįžtu namo, naktį miegu. Keep the sentence short and rhythmic.

Ryte keliuosi.
I get up in the morning.
Vakare grįžtu namo.
I come home in the evening.
Naktį miegu.
I sleep at night.

Pronunciation
  • Say grįžtu slowly at first and keep the ž clear.
  • Keliuosi works best if you keep the middle light: ke-liuo-si.
Watch for
  • English often repeats “I” in every sentence, but Lithuanian routine language often sounds more natural with the verb alone: Ryte keliuosi. Dirbu. Vakare grįžtu namo.
  • Learn valgau pusryčius and einu į darbą as whole routine chunks before you analyze the grammar inside them.
Tip
  • Memorize your day as a six-beat rhythm: keliuosi, valgau, einu, dirbu, grįžtu, miegu.
You can now

I can describe the main actions of my normal day in short, real-life Lithuanian.
